Dear ocean,
I went to the beach last week and witnessed something I have never seen here in Florida... crazy swell! Here's a news article, I'm not making it up! There were tons of surfers annd it was super fun to body surf as well. While we haven't been hit by a hurricane, we are definitely getting the good waves from Bill and Danny.
Love,
Whitney!

Cafe con Leche
I'm back! And instead of catching up I'm just starting with now. It's Saturday, I'm in Florida, it's humid, it's hot, it just rained, I'm alone in the apartment, and it's been an exciting day already. I woke up and walk/jogged to the top of the causeway. After showering I decided to take my new bike, Teal Steel, (name in progress, any other ideas are welcomed) to Publix to get some food for the fridge. A beautiful bike ride there, and then at the check-out counter I heard thunder. Awesome. I biked home in the rain trying to balance too many groceries, but I didn't even crack an egg!
Classes are going alright; my physics/geology/calculus is being nicely balanced by The Fundamentals of Color, weather briefing is more intense than I thought, and my civilization class is a lot more interesting than I had ever hoped it to be. Lab meetings have moved to 7am Monday mornings, Latin dance class has moved to Thursdays and Sundays, Sailing club is turning into annoying freshman club, and the coffee shop has closed. Change is fine, but it's going to take me another week or two to get in the rhythm.
Pictures and anecdotes to come. I'm tired.

Summer Has Begun!
Jaclyn Parell is genius. "I don't know what to wear to Meggin's... Let's wear togas." Now that is what I call resourceful! And after this weekend of wrapping things up, saying goodbyes, and coming home, I'm finally ready to start summer. Although, if anyone has any job ideas, please let me know-- I've already applied to a few places but nothing seems to be working out...
I have yet to make a list of summer goals, but I'm starting with just doing something productive everyday. Because when it all comes down to it, I just don't like going to bed un-accomplished.
So today I'm going to clean my room.
(that was a joke if none of you got it... I'll be cleaning my room all summer)

Beverley Hills Chihuahua
If this was still an Art of Film blog, I would post a wonderful critique about Beverley Hills Chihuahua. For real, probably one of the best movies in the world. I wish Natalie and Bubba could have watched it with me, but in less than a month they can!
Last night I experienced Yanni for the first time. The most memorable part of it, besides the crazy violin duos, peruvian harp player, crazy percussionists, leather-pant man, and beautiful music, was by FAR getting scolded by an old lady. Xerxes and I got up during a song and walked to the side near an exit to salsa dance. Within maybe 30 seconds an usher on the side told us "I'm sorry but I can't let you dance here." (!!!) It was so reminiscent of Kelly being yelled at for dancing at summerfest. Seriously, what is it with people. Dancing is a wonderful thing that should be shared with the world. In Elf, Buddy repeatedly reminds people "the best way to spread christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear," and I think that can be closely correlated with "the best way to spread love in the world, is dancing." (if anyone can figure out a way to make that rhyming and cutesty, please let me know)
Alright more updates later, sorry for being so behind.
love,
whitney!

Rehearsal for "Noche de Fuego"
So within the past two days, I've spent at least 8 hours dancing. We've been learning a salsa dance for our end of the year performance, and last night around 11:30pm we decided to record an attempt at performance. (keep in mind we were all reeeeeallly tired) but none-the-less we look amazing.
